| Description |
The
quantitative D-dimer test may be used to rule out deep venous thrombosis
and pulmonary emboli when the result is less than 240 ng/mL. Further,
the quantitative D-dimer has replaced the semiquantitative D-dimer test
as a test of primary importance in the diagnosis of disseminated intravascular
coagulation (DIC). DIC is presumed when the D-dimer result exceeds 500
ng/mL. |

Test |
When
the D-dimer is used to test for disseminated intravascular coagulation,
it is performed with the activated partial thromboplastin time, prothrombin
